A New Yorker's Idea of The USA

My inexpensive treasure from an estate sale this past weekend.
Zoom in closer if you can, it's pretty amusing.
I'm guessing from the 1940's?

Chenille Bedspreads

I sold this vintage chenille bedspread on Craigslist and almost regret doing so.  The colors are not my current taste/preference, especially with our beige rental walls and carpet, but the design is fantastic.  Not overly feminine like a lot of chenille spreads still in circulation. Very classic yet trendy and no guy should complain about sleeping under it.

This one is more like the spread I slept under during my teen years.  I had a rod iron bed frame too.  But imagine more flowers and a lot more pink.

Two of these spreads can be purchased here.
Very feminine.  Perfect for a little or single girl's room.  And the difference is what made the orange one so great and unique.  It is adult and any gender friendly.   I hope the new owner loves it!

What, if any,  kind of souvenirs do you buy on your adventures?

Snack Sets

They're a fun feminine element of luncheons and parties of the past.  Intended for finger foods and punch, I like to imagine a room full of ladies in skirts and pearls mingling and chatting while carrying one around.

Yes they take up valuable storage space.  Yes it's probably better to hand wash them.  Yes they're breakable.  Yes they're heavy.  Yes disposable Dixie plates get the job done much easier.  But they're soooo pretty!!!

I stopped at a sparse garage sale the other weekend with low expectations.  I was surprised and excited to walk away with a set of 16 trays and glasses for only $10!  They are a little mix-matched, but I love it that way.

One of my favorite lunch spots in Waco, Amelia's, used a very eclectic collection of snack sets.  They served delicious salads and sandwiches on the tray and soups in the cup.  Perfectly cute!

I won't be selling these any time soon, but you can buy your own here, here and here.

Have you attended or helped host a luncheon, shower or party recently?  What were your favorite special elements of the event?

Here Goes!

If I'm truly going to help my Mom and Grandmother by getting Mother's Stuff rolling on Etsy, I think I need a blog to accompany it. That's just what goes down in today's world. Right? Yes.

And since Momma herself will be arriving at my apartment in just a couple days with more goodies, things are really on the verge of picking up.

So this blog space will be:
  1. A place to showcase all the wonderful things I'm helping her sell
  2. A place for me to show off all my tag sale treasures
  3. A place to discuss and share the love of all things vintage
Let me know if you have any input as I get things kicked off. Thanks for checking it out!
